Vanilla Rose Cake

This pillowy, soft, and fluffy vanilla cake is the perfect dessert to get rid of any sugar cravings. Topped with vanilla buttercream, it makes a perfect dessert for the family. I wanted to add a personalized touch to it, so I piped on small roses, however that is totally optional. You can decorate it however you like, thats up to you.

How To Make:

  1. In a bowl, add in your butter, oil, and sugar. Mix these ingredients.

  2. Add in your egg and mix until light and fluffy.

  3. Add buttermilk. If you don't have butter milk at home, you can combine 1/2 cup of milk with 1/2 tsp white vinegar.

  4. Slowly start adding your flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Also, if you have vanilla extract add it now.

  5. Now is the time to prepare your baking pan. Grease your pan with oil or butter so your cake doesn't stick.

  6. Pour your cake mixture into your pan. To get rid of unnecessary air bubbles, tap your pan on-top of the counter multiple times.

  7. Now, put your cake inside the oven at 350 F for 25 minutes.

  8. For the butter cream, start by adding your room temperature butter into a bowl and beating it until its light and fluffy.

  9. After a few minutes of beating, add in your milk and powdered sugar.

  10. Keep whipping it for several minutes. The more you whisk it the whiter it'll start getting. If your butter cream still looks a bit yellow, you can add a drop of food coloring to cancel out the yellows.

  11. Now put your cake together. Since I made a mini cake, i was able to split the batter up into 2 pans, to make a 2 layered cake. In between the layers add butter cream.

  12. Now just decorate as desired.

Extra Information:

  • If you don't have butter milk you can make it by adding 1/2 tsp white vinegar into 1/2 cup milk. The vinegar adds acidity to the milk which in turn makes buttermilk.

  • If you want this cake to be a chocolate cake just add cocoa powder. However, you will need to add another egg and more buttermilk.

  • You can color the frosting as you like, gel food coloring is preferred because liquid food coloring waters down the batter or buttercream.

  • To make the cake even more juicier, you can drip some milk into the layers.
